Composite Tubing Applications

Composite materials offer significant weight, performance, aesthetic and anti-corrosive benefits over metallic structures so our glass fibre, carbon fibre and aramid fibre tubes can be used to enhance your application at a cost to suit your budget. Examples of popular uses for our composite tubes are;

Military / Defence

Hardy Advanced Composites Ltd design and manufacture tubular components for use in military applications such as:

  • Land Based Systems
  • Antennae
  • Counter Measures
  • Communications

Hardy Advanced Composites Ltd is part of the NLAW next generation light anti-tank weapon system team which includes SAAB Bofors Technology  and Thales Air Defence Systems. We are also one of the founding members of the Northern Defence Industries (NDI).

NLAW entered production during 2006 has been operational since 2007. The NLAW combat weapon comprises an anti-tank missile sealed within a disposable launch tube. Although the main targets are MBTs and Light Armoured Fighting Vehicles (LAFVs) other targets such as troops in buildings and nonarmoured vehicles can also be defeated. Hardy Advanced Composites' expertise with carbon fibre tubes led to them being considered for this exciting project. They continue to develop their carbon fibre tube and composite tube technologies.

Hardy Advanced Composites Ltd design and manufacture tubular components for use in aerospace applications including:

  • Airbus Aircraft Components
  • The International Space Station
  • Aircraft Fuel System Components

Hardy Advanced Composites Ltd hold several product specific aerospace approvals from leading aerospace organisations including GKN.

Hardy Advanced Composites Ltd supply composite tubing for aerospace applications including spacers, sleeves and fuel gauging equipment. If you are looking to source composite tubing for an aerospace project then please contact us.

Sports Equipment

Hardy Advanced Composites Ltd manufacture the highest quality rod blanks for our parent company Hardy & Greys Ltd. Hardy & Greys Ltd are renowned worldwide for the quality and actions of their fishing tackle and part of this reputation is built on the research & development carried out on on their behalf by Hardy Advanced Composites Ltd.

Hardy Advanced Composites Ltd manufacture sports equipment components such as:

  • Yachting Masts, Bow Sprits and Spinnaker Poles
  • Canoe / Kayak Paddle Shafts
  • Lightweight Rugby Posts
  • Formula One Pit Lane Equipment

Composite materials offer significant performance benefits for sports equipment users due to their high stiffness to weight properties and durability characterisitcs.

Carbon fibre tubes can be used as direct replacements for aluminium tubular components on your yachting applications with instant weight savings. We currently supply some of the UK's top boat builders.

Ovington Boats

Ovington's 49er one-design skiff has transformed competitive dinghy sailing offering performance, excitement and spectacle together with the unmatched ferocity of competition only generated in Olympic fleets. Hardy Advanced Composites Ltd supply composite components for this popular and exciting boat.
